Dealing with Difficult Emotions
Wednesdays · 7-8:30pm with Matthew Stein
Overwhelmed by your feelings? Buddhist psychology offers a time-tested, powerful and healthy approach to dealing with painful, challenging emotions. Each week, we will apply these methods to states like craving, anger, and self-hatred. First, we need to recognize them, learn how they work, and accept ourselves for where we are. Next, we can disempower them using special meditations. Finally, we can envision and even experience a state of total freedom and release, having transcended these difficult emotions.

Overcoming Anger
Wednesdays · 7-8:30pm with Matthew Stein
Everyone gets angry. Whether it is some minor irritation or annoyance up to intense rage, some form of non-acceptance towards our life’s circumstances rises up once in a while. Even though this is common, anger in all its various forms ends up causing more harm than good. It solves nothing–anything accomplished under the name of anger can more productively be accomplished through patience, love, and compassion. In addition, it makes us unhappy, irrational and erratic, and hard to be around for others. Take a healthy approach to deal with the emotions related to anger through using Buddhist meditation. You can learn how to clearly identify anger and distinguish yourself from it, so you can be hard on anger while still being kind to yourself. Finally, by using different meditative strategies, you can uproot and let go of it altogether.
