The Union of the Two Truths

May 20-23, 2022  with Gen Samten and Kadam Lucy

Join us for a special and experiential journey into a full understanding of emptiness, the union of the two truths. Buddha taught many levels of the union of the two truths according to both Sutra (where he explained the union of conventional and ultimate truth) and Tantra (where he explained the union of appearance and emptiness). It is through these teachings that we can complete our understanding of Dharma and attain enlightenment in this life. We will first find our way into emptiness through the magic of dependent relationship, and then learn how to unite emptiness with compassion and correct imagination. Through this we will learn:

·  To overcome obstacles to meditating on emptiness such that our mind mixes deeply with it.

·  How to see emptiness in all appearances such that they lose the power to delude our mind.

·  How to live in reality instead of being continually caught up in hallucinations.

·  How to enter into the mandala through transforming daily appearances into the path.

·      How to experience reality as the nature of great bliss.

Don’t miss this special lineage of a fully realized meditator — the heart practice of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and of the Ganden tradition – as presented by two of Geshe-la’s earliest disciples, Gen Samten and Kadam Lucy.

Four Close Placements of Mindfulness

November 4-9 with Gen Samten

We all want to live mindfully. What does this mean and how do we do it?  Buddha taught a meditation practice where we combine wisdom and mindfulness to focus on the four areas of life that consume our attention: Our body, our feelings of happiness and sadness, our mind, and all other phenomena. During this course we will explore this method of living mindfully in a precise, practical, and lighthearted manner.

Medicine Buddha Empowerment & Retreat on the Eleven Reversals

December 26-31, 2022

The Healing Buddha functions to cure physical sickness and alleviate mental pain. During this unique empowerment ceremony we will create a deep connection with Medicine Buddha, that will enable us to heal ourselves and others. All disease starts in the mind and so that is where true healing also takes place.

Heal the mind with 11 reversals

To heal our mind we use Lamrim meditation to bring about a reversal of deluded attitudes and views. The 11 Reversals describe the gradual transformation of the mind from an unhealthy to a health-producing state.
