The Inner Protection of Refuge: Preliminary Guide Retreat
September 18 – 23 | Preliminary Guide Retreat
with Gen Samten Kelsang
Registration Opens August 12 at 2pm
We cannot always change external conditions, but we can always protect our mind. The practice of going for refuge is a special method to establish inner strength and protection, which benefits ourselves and others. Specifically, going for refuge means relying on the Three Jewels– Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.
Buddha is the source of all teachings and blessings; Dharma is the realization of Buddha’s teachings; and Sangha is the pure Dharma practitioners who help us with our spiritual practice. Dharma is like medicine that heals us from our suffering, Buddha is the doctor who gives us this medicine, and the Sangha are the nurses who assist us.
This retreat will provide a unique opportunity to train in mantra recitation related to the preliminary guide of going for refuge. This allows us to deepen our refuge practice in a systematic way, so it can continue to nourish us far into the future. Everyone is welcome!
