The World Peace Café & Bookstore
Serving delicious drinks, home-baked desserts and lighter vegetarian fare, the World Peace Café is the perfect place to start and finish a visit to the Kadampa Meditation Center.
There are glorious views of the pond and woodland from the Café veranda, and the relaxed atmosphere is perfect for quiet conversation, study and reflection.
Inspired by the vision of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the World Peace Café exists to promote peace throughout the world by directing any profits towards building Kadampa Temples dedicated to world peace.
The Café is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4pm, and during courses and events. It is also open occasionally for special meals and parties. Hours vary, so please call KMC-NY to confirm.
Bookstore & Gift Shop
Guests enjoy browsing in the Tharpa bookstore and shop that is located in the Temple veranda.
The shop is fully stocked with beautiful merchandise to support Buddhist practice and for gift-giving. Intricate bronze Buddha statues, offering bowls, prayer beads, and book covers enhance personal shrines.
The Shop also sells many unique items that make lovely presents, such as scented candles, soaps, cards, jewelry, book bags and journals. Our bookstore carries a complete selection of books and audio recordings of Sutra and Tantra teachings by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, CDs of sung prayers, and art prints and cards ready for framing.
